RuffHaus Rabbitry started after being introduced to Lionhead rabbits by Holland Lop breeder, Lachelle Conley, Country Fl~Hare Rabbits. The breed is currently an exhibition breed with ARBA and is becoming wildly popular... and rightly so! These darling little rabbits are too cute for words!

The rabbits have become my personal form of Zen. After being diagnosed with cancer, Darla, my first Lionhead really became a source of peace and tranquility for me. I know how much Lachelle questioned letting her go- and all I have to say was that she arrived in my household at a very opportune time, as it wasn't much later that I received my diagnosis. Darla (and Lachelle) really helped bring some much needed cheer into my life! I've had to cut back on my activities with German Shepherds, but have tossed all my international championship show & breeding experience into my efforts for the Lionheads.

Since then, I have been working to build a superb foundation for my breeding program. I've been selectively gathering only the best rabbits with top pedigrees from around the country for my breeding program. Genetics are incredibly important to the development of a breed in its early stages, and I am striving to further develop and solidify this breed on its path to full acceptance as a recognized breed with ARBA.

Since Lionheads are such a young breed, many people breed for quantity and charge $$$ due to the high demand. As a potential buyer, research the Lionhead standard and a breeder's background. At RuffHaus, our rabbits are bred for quality, kept in high quality indoor facilities, have outdoor excercise pens with a variety of toys, tunnels, houses, and other obstacles to entertain and excercise them- both mentally and physically. We don't make our living off of rabbits- they are our expensive hobby, not our income. As such, we will tell you exactly what we think the strengths and weaknesses of our rabbits are.
